Disney and Sony Pictures Entertainment have a multi-year content licensing agreement for U.S. streaming and TV rights to Sony Pictures’ new theatrical releases across Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution’s vast portfolio of platforms including its streaming services Disney+ and Hulu, as well as linear entertainment networks including ABC, Disney Channels, Freeform, FX and National Geographic. The deal covers theatrical
releases from 2022-to 2026 and begins for each film following its Pay 1 TV window (Netflix).
This means that once “Morbius” is removed from Netflix in the US after the Pay 1 window expires (18 months), Disney can add the film to Hulu and Disney+ in the United States. This is likely to be around 2 years after the theatrical release, so it’s likely to arrive on Disney+ in the US in mid-2024. And now that Disney+ in the US has parental controls for mature content, this film would fit perfectly in the Marvel section on Disney+.

Morbius‘ debut movie will be a starting story for the character. According to what we have known so far, the character seems to be quite fun. Michael Morbius becomes a living vampire while trying to cure the rare blood disease.
The villain of the movie is Loxias Crown, aka Hunger. Hunger is another living vampire with abilities similar to Morbius.
The character has never been mentioned before in an MCU, Sony, or Fox movie, which makes the movie even more attractive.
Morbius’ Cast And Crew
Morbius is helmed by Swedish director Daniel Espinosa, who most recently worked on the sci-fi horror film Life. The script is penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who previously worked on The Last Witch Hunter, Gods of Egypt, and currently serve as showrunners for the Netflix Lost in the Space reboot. They were assisted on the screenplay by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who wrote the very first MCU film Iron Man back in 2008.
Jared Leto plays the titular character of Michael Morbius, having been drawn to the role with the duality of struggling with his disease while also thirsting for blood. Former Doctor Who stars Matt Smith plays Loxias Crown, a man suffering from the same disease as Morbius who becomes the villain Hunger in the comics. Adria Arjona will portray Martine Bancroft, Morbius’ fiancee. Jared Harris also appears in the role of Morbius’ mentor. Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson play FBI agents Alberto Rodriguez and Simon Straud, respectively, with the latter serving as one of Morbius’ main antagonists.

Morbius Villain
Loxias Crown’s origin is a bit of a mystery in superhero comics; therefore, not much is known. He first appeared in “Spider-Man” #76 in 1996 and was created by Howard Mackie. Crown joined the nefarious organization Hydra after becoming a prodigy who might also be regarded as a crazy scientist. Crown and Morbius both had a unique blood ailment, but instead of attempting to find a solution for himself, Crown experimented on a live vampire. In the process, he evolved into Hunger, a creature with a lot of the same skills as him.
The title character’s portrayal in “Morbius” will be fascinating to see. Considering he’s not going up against Spider-Man and will instead be facing up against someone a lot more terrible than he is, it seems fair to conclude Leto’s character will be at least somewhat heroic. Sony seems to have enormous ambitions for Spider-rogues’ Man’s gallery, yet getting them to the big screen without the web-slinger himself can’t be simple.
