Five Epic Movie Snacks For Your Epic Movie Watching
You’ve been waiting all week to relax and today is the day.
It’s time to sit down and check out for a couple of hours with an epic move.
But before you do, consider your food and refreshments beforehand because the last thing you need is a rumbling stomach to interfere with your vegging-out plans.
The following snacks can be enjoyed at home or the theater.
Nachos And Extra Cheese
Probably one of the more pricey movie snacks, but if you’re in it for the long haul with an epically long movie, then you’ll need staying power. Nachos are that staying power.
Nachos Tip: Get extra cheese because, for some reason, the movie snack people always give us way too many chips and not enough dip. And don’t worry, because if you happen to be left with extra cheese, there’s a killer popcorn tip we’ve got for you below. Trust us on this; popcorn and melted cheese are the way.
Nachos Tip 2: Jalapenos. Extra jalapenos. Enough said.
Popcorn With Free Refills
Popcorn is the prototypical American movie snack. It’s got the carbs you need to ensure you have the energy to get through any movie exceeding the 2-hour time frame. Add butter if you want to get really crazy, or hold off on the sauce if you’re health conscious.
Popcorn Tip: Should you or your movie date enjoy some nachos, dip your popcorn into the nacho cheese for a flavor explosion. Yep, it’s a game-changer.
Sweets. Don’t Forget the Sweets.
We’re not sure what your local movie theatre carries in their sweets rack, but we suggest picking up at least one chocolate bar and a side of candy (maybe those gummy Sour Patch candies or some Mike and Ike’s). You can’t just eat popcorn and nachos for your main course only to skip out on dessert.
It’s movie night. Live a little!
Sweets Tip: If you want to save a little bit of money, swing by your local gas station on the way to the theater. Smuggling in your candy adds to the excitement of it all, plus you’ll save some cash that can be used for an extra cheese container (see above for reasons why you need extra cheese).
Sweets Tip 2: If you’re going to be a smuggler, we’d suggest adding some CBD honey sticks to your snack repertoire. First, CBD will help you relax and enjoy yourself during this multi-hour-long adventure. Unlike THC, it won’t get you high, so you won’t get lost during the twists and turns of the movie.
But your cognitive abilities might be heightened to help you catch some developments in the film that you wouldn’t have seen before. Second, honey is super healthy, and after all that junk food you’ve just dumped into your body, you could probably use a bit of a healthy boost to your system.
Warm Pretzel
No movie-going adventure is complete without the grain food group. Luckily, many theatres now offer warm pretzels to solve this dilemma. If you’ve still got some room after consuming all of the snacks above, top your evening off with a soft, warm, salted pretzel.
Pretzel tip: Use that extra cheese cup from your nachos and enjoy it with your savory pretzel. You’ll be glad you did.
The Big Drink
It’s tempting to pay the lowest price for a small movie drink. But if you’re in for an epic saga, then we need to get real. The small soda isn’t gonna cut it, especially if you’ve scored the large popcorn with free refills and nachos with extra cheese.
Hydration is critical when we’re in for the long movie haul.
Drink Tip: Spend the extra dollar on the big drink. You’ll be glad you did. But be prepared to take a few restroom breaks because you just consumed a gallon of liquid. Make it quick, though, because you don’t want to miss anything.
Drink Tip 2: We understand that some people prefer to avoid soda. We support your healthy initiative! Thus, in the interest of survival, ensure you pick up bottled water. (See the sweet snacks above for a tip on how to save money on bottled water. Hint: it involves smuggling in a large purse or carry-all.)
Epic Movie Aftermath
Ok, you’ve just got done watching a great movie. You’re full and feeling great; mission accomplished.
Let’s be honest, though. Movie food isn’t exactly the healthiest. So, before your next flick festival, be sure to get in some positive health activity. Drink lots of water to wash away that extra popcorn, nacho, and cheese sodium you just took in. And, if you’re feeling up to it, take 20 – 30 minutes to walk it off for the next few days, either by hitting the elliptical or Stairmaster at the gym or taking a stroll around the block.
Once you’ve completed this final task, prepare for your next movie-watching experience. Don’t be afraid to shake it up a little with new snacks and snack combinations.
