Place your bets with the three best gambling movies of all time
We don’t see too many movies that are focused on gambling, but over the years some classics have come around. These movies show gambling in the main storyline. If you’ve never watched a gambling movie before and you want to know where to start, here are our three best gambling movies of all time.
#3: The Gambler
We really appreciate this film because it looks at the bad side of gambling, the side that few other films look at. It’s fair to say that in the real world, gambling does not always go to plan for everyone, and some people can really struggle with their addiction.
The Gambler takes a look at gambling from the point of view of someone who has an addiction that gets worse as the film moves on. Throughout the film the main character borrows a lot of money to fund his gambling, while also needing bigger fixes to satisfy him. The majority of people who bet do so for fun, but this film is a reminder, if anyone needed it, that from time to time things can really go wrong indeed.
#2: Casino Royale
Part of the James Bond series, which has had many directors putting together excellent films over the years, it’s no surprise this film was eagerly anticipated. There’s nothing better than watching gambling take place without feeling the pressure yourself, something that makes gambling films popular with players.
In Casino Royale we see Bond play an all-or-nothing game in Monte Carlo, and although there’s nothing personally at stake for those watching, you get a real sense of involvement from this film, following the game as though it’s one of your own.
If you’re looking to take a day off from placing wagers yourself on football betting sites or any other sport, then watching a film like this is certainly one way to enjoy your day while keeping in touch with the gambling world.
#1: Casino
Of all the best gambling movies, Casino is one that stands head and shoulders above the rest for us. This film takes you into the darker side of the gambling world in Las Vegas, including a look into what happens when the mob runs things, and how the world of organized crime looks when things don’t quite go to plan.
Casino is a film about gambling, although more about the whole operation and managing it, not individual bets and battles between people. That said, it’s still an all-time classic, and although events in its plot may be a little far-fetched at times, it’s still a great look into how the gambling operation in Las Vegas ran when it crossed paths with organized crime gangs and everything they brought to the table.
Those looking for an action-packed film about the world of crime, gangs, and gambling should certainly give Casino a try.
