Seiichi Hishikawa director of ‘All Aboard!’: Everything to know
Seiichi Hishikawa is the director of the 2020 film All Aboard! The film takes place in the port town of Komatsushima and follows the life of Haruka Asakura (Yukino Murakami). Haruka lives with her effeminate father Goro (Katsuhiro Shimamoto), her uncle Kentaro (Jun Suzuki) who is in love with a prostitute, and her cousin Manabu (Soma Fujii) who is an aspiring singer and songwriter.
The family is vibrant and their dinner table has never seen a dull moment. Each may have their own problems, but together they live happy lives. Until. That is, one day a tragedy befalls Haruka and the whole family is sent into turmoil.
All Aboard! seeks to explore diversity and family.
Seiichi Hishikawa, the director, has won 24 awards and honors during his career. He was born in Tokyo in 1969, but began a career in New York City. He has directed short films, photography, television commercials, corporate advertisements for companies such as Panasonic, Tiffany, and Honda, as well as dramas such as Komyo ga Tsuji, MORIBITO: Guardian of the Spirit, and Saka no Ue no Kumo”.
Hishikawa also directs and stages exhibitions for companies like Chanel, Calvin Kelin, and Sonia Rykiel. On top of this his contemporary art installation “Yukimi Shunga” which contains integrated photography and motion images has been invited to exhibitions in both Milan and New York.
The short film Nishikan, produced in collaboration with Musashino Art University has also won multiple prizes at New York festivals in 2017.
