Is Addison Rae quitting TikTok for Hollywood?
How the times have changed. Back in the day, to make it in Hollywood, you’d have to move to California with nothing but a suitcase full of dreams & hope against hope for the best. In 2021, all you need to make it in Hollywood is to get your follower count up, and knock it out of the park when those numbers lead you to a decent project. Case in point: Addison Rae.
Addison Rae is a TikTok god, but reports say she won’t be solely holding onto the title for long. Rae made her big breakout from TikTok (not that she needed it) last month when she starred in her first ever major motion picture. Furthermore, lucky for Rae, the movie had a built-in audience ready to see the flick no matter who starred in it. Even luckier for Rae, the movie was a big hit.
He’s All That
90s nostalgia junkies & TikTok freaks alike rejoiced in late August, when He’s All That finally dropped on Netflix after months of hype. The new flick is a reboot of the iconic 90s teen rom com She’s All That with a gender bent cast starring (you guessed it) Addison Rae as the main makeover queen.
She’s All That was highly influential for all teen rom coms following, and fans of the genre were guaranteed to tune in to the updated retelling of the classic story in He’s All That.
Furthermore, Addison Rae is widely known as one of the most successful TikTok stars of all time, and her current followers number is over 84 million. So yeah, Rae had plenty of fans ready to see how her acting chops had come together for her first Netflix movie. So did the movie do as great as predicted?
Coming soon
Despite a panned critical response to He’s All That, the movie was still heavily streamed. Rae took to Instagram shortly after the film dropped to share its spot at number 1 in the U.S. on its release day.
Netflix must have taken notice of Addison Rae’s big hit, as news came this week telling fans the TikTok star may spend some more time in front of movie cameras very soon.
The Hollywood Reporter dropped a story on Wednesday telling fans Addison Rae has signed a multiple movie deal with Netflix. Reports say the deal will have Netflix developing new flicks for Rae to star in, and she’ll also executive produce any movies she helps bring to the massive streamer.
We can only imagine the twenty year-old is stoked to spend some more time in the big leagues, and she’s responded to the deal with excitement.
Thrilled
Rae is quoted saying, “Getting the opportunity to work with Netflix was such a pinch-me moment and now to be able to continue the relationship is beyond my wildest dreams . . . I’m thrilled to be able to collaborate with this incredible team and am excited to develop projects while continuing to strengthen my skills as an actress”.
Rae isn’t the only one excited about the deal. Considering Rae’s massive army of followers, we can bet Netflix is excited to get some guaranteed greenbacks from all the future streams coming from Rae stans.
Netflix’s director of family film Naketha Mattocks is quoted saying, “Addison Rae’s charm and promise is undeniable as evidenced by He’s All That and her already passionate fan base . . . We’re thrilled to be part of this next phase of her burgeoning career as an actress”.
There you have it, everyone is thrilled about Rae’s next move. Now we’ll just have to wait & see what kind of movies Netflix has up their sleeves in order to showcase their new darling money maker.
