However, if there’s one race in the F1 calendar where Hamilton has often started and finished as the favorite it’s his home race at the British Grand Prix 2021 Live at the famed Silverstone Circuit. Hamilton has managed to win his home race six out of the last seven seasons dating back to 2014. A win for Hamilton will not only help his case but also his team as Mercedes are trailing Red Bull by 44 points in the Constructors Standings.

So far, it looks like Verstappen is the only driver who can potentially stop Hamilton from cruising to a record-setting eighth F1 Championship title to become the most successful F1 driver of all time, ahead of German great, Michael Schumacher.

At the end of last season, Hamilton had a huge 124-point victory over teammate Valtteri Bottas as Mercedes comfortably cruised to yet another Constructors Championship.

How to watch F1 2021 in the UK: Sky Sports and Sky Sports F1

There are two ways to watch F1 on Sky Sports. You can either add the dedicated Sky Sports F1 channel to your TV package, or you can add the Complete Sky Sports package to your TV. We’ll explain the difference between both, but note that both options require you to have a basic Sky Signature package first. Sky Signature is the new name for Sky’s Basic TV package. This costs £25/mnth and includes the best of Sky TV and Netflix on compatible devices. The minimum term contract for Sky Signature is 18 months and new customers will have a one-time setup fee.

Once you have Sky Signature, you can add Sky Sports F1 to your TV. Sky Sports F1 is the official broadcaster of every F1 race of the 2021 season. You can watch every practice, qualifying session and race live in HD. This package costs £18/mnth on a rolling 31-day contract. Alternatively, new customers can get Sky TV and Sky Sports F1 for £43/mnth. However, this will tie down to an 18-month contract and you’ll need to pay a one-time setup fee of £20.

However, if you’re a fan of sports in general, then you’re better off choosing the Sky Sports package, which costs £25/month. Not only does this include the Sky Sports F1 channel as default, but you’ll get eight Sky Sports channels all in HD, meaning you’ll be able to watch marquee matches from the Premier League, EFL, Scottish Premiership, golf majors, NFL, NBA, live international cricket, franchise cricket tournaments like the IPL, and more.

Who will win?

While Silverstone has historically been a circuit that favors Mercedes, Red Bull might just be the favorites this weekend and its run of five consecutive wins could stretch to six.

Max Verstappen has taken four of those wins himself and is arguably in the form of his career at the moment as he continues to extend his championship lead over title rival Lewis Hamilton.

The Mercedes driver has said upgrades are needed if he is to challenge the Dutch driver and he will be getting one this weekend, though it might not be enough to take on the RB16B.

F1’s first-ever Sprint Qualifying race could throw the form book out of the window if F1 managing director of motorsport Ross Brawn is to be believed.

The format aims to shake up the grid and rewards drivers with better starting positions for Sunday’s race should they make progress through the order in the sprint. If drivers collide or crash through, it will spell disaster for their weekend and put them at the back of the grid for the Grand Prix.

Team-mates of the title protagonists Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas will be hoping they can steal a march on their respective targets in the sprint, particularly the latter as rumors continue to swirl around the possible announcement of George Russell as a Mercedes driver next season.

If Red Bull can win decisively around Silverstone, there might not be many more races Mercedes can realistically win.
