Rosie’s call out
In Love Island season four’s forty-nine episodes, more down time is spent with the islanders than dramatic moments of champagne throwing a la Real Housewives.
However, there are manic moments when the cast brushes with Bravo-level reality insanity, and one of the biggest cringe-fests of the series comes when Rosie calls Adam out with a toast.
In one of season 4’s landmark episodes, Adam looks about as confused as us when Rosie tries to cancel him in front of all the islanders for “slagging [her] off,” and the two mumble-argue as the cast looks on in silent horror. Sorry, Rosie, but being dumped is just a natural part of life on the island.
You’re not exactly Jim Carrey
Megan & Eyal are two of Love Island’s biggest hotties; they both look like models, and even though they have sh*t chat, they are more than easy on the eyes (quite fit), and many fans hoped they’d work out when the series aired. However, in episode twenty, we learned a harsh reality: things don’t always go as planned on Love Island.
Megan breaks up with Eyal with some brutal honesty; she tells Eyal she needs someone who can make her laugh, and Eyal “isn’t exactly Jim Carrey.” Eyal tells her she’s not exactly Jim Carrey either. I guess you better stick to drama, guys.
That’s fine
Megan & Eyal’s breakup is funny, but Laura & Wes’s breakup is downright horrifying. Laura hitches her wagon to Wes early on in the series, but Wes’s flame for Laura gets snuffed when Megan walks into the villa.
We watch Wes stumble through his dumping Laura, but Laura’s reaction is when the cringe-o-meter goes off the charts. Laura doesn’t take Wes’s words well, telling him he’ll “never get this chance again” to which he replies, “that’s fine.” Laura calls Wes a prick and Megan a slag, and for a second we feel like we’re watching some American reality TV. However, it isn’t long before Laura apologizes (to Megan, anyway).
Sitting in a tree
Little more is debated on Love Island than Jack & Georgia’s alleged kiss. When Jack & Laura have hit it off, Jack goes on a date with Georgia ending with the two kissing goodbye. But what kind of kiss is it?
In arguments better fit for a middle-school playground, the love triangle of Jack, Laura, and Georgia debate on whether the kiss Jack & Georgia shared was on the cheek, lips, or if the kiss actually “counted.” It’s hard to watch them argue, especially when we can just hit rewind and see for ourselves.
Jack & Dani
Finally, despite Love Island’s drama, the show presents some of the most wholesome moments in reality TV dating show history. No relationship on Love Island is more pure to fans than winners Dani Dyer & Jack Fincham. Furthermore, no moment between them is greater than when they drop the L bomb.
The morning after Jack & Dani say “I love you,” the two tell their respective gang of girls & guys, and they all chuff each other up about the big moment in one of Love Island’s best episodes. Jack & Dani are proof reality TV can be innocent, at least on Love Island.
