Leaked! Will Andrew Garfield return in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’?
We are just days away from the release of the much-anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home, and yet still fans are demanding answers as to just what this new multiverse will include or even bring back some previous Spider-Man iterations. Now, after the release of multiple trailers and TV spots, many fans of the MCU are curious just who will show up in the Tom Holland & Benedict Cumberbatch-led film.
We already know that Alfred Molina will reprise his role as Doc Ock, a character that first appeared in the 2004 Sam Raimi Spider-Man 2 film. We also know Jamie Foxx will be returning to play Electro, who went head to head with Andrew Garfield’s incarnation of Spider-Man in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. And don’t think we’re forgetting Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, who we’re so stoked to see back!
That being said, it’s all about the possible return of the previous Spider-Man’s in both Tobey Maguire and Andre Garfield, who led their own respective franchises once upon a time. Now, after the world premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home last night, many are as confident as ever on the return of Tobey and Andrew, regardless of how hard Garfield might be trying to convince us otherwise.
Spider-Man: No Way Home
The third installment of the Tom Holland Spider-Man series, currently set to swing its way into theaters this Thursday, sees Peter Parker dealing with the closing events of 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, in which Mysterio reveals Spider-Man’s real identity to the world.
Peter Parker, in a desperate attempt to erase this truth, seeks the guidance of Stephen Strange in an effort to help him reset the timeline. However, things go awry when Peter tampers with the spell, leaving both Spider-Man & Doctor Strange to deal with the unfolding events within the multiverse, a world in which Doctor Strange admits they know dangerously little about.
The film is set to return stars Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, and Jon Favreau, as well as include appearances from Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, J.K. Simmons, Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as a slew of other surprises that we can’t wait to see. However, regardless of what we think we know of Garfield’s return as Spidey, he’s been working overtime to sell us that he’s not.
Andrew Garfield on The Tonight Show
A few weeks back, Andrew Garfield stopped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to discuss his role in the upcoming Jessica Chastain led film The Eyes of Tammy Faye, to which the host hijacked the interview to once again bring up the possibility of Garfield appearing alongside Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Jimmy Fallon immediately brought up a picture that is rumored to have long since been deleted from the internet of both Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire on the Spider-Man set, to which Andrew Garfield immediately offered the following regarding Fallon’s claims, claims in which Jimmy Fallon wasn’t buying for a second.
“I’m trying to manage expectations!”, Garfield continued amidst a sad audience reaction. “If they want to give me a call at this late, late stage of the game, you know, I’m sitting here in my tracksuit. I did not get a call. I would’ve gotten a call by now. That’s what I’ll say. I don’t want to rule anything out. Maybe they want to call me. Maybe they want to call me and say, ‘Hey, people want this’”.
“I think that Tom Holland is just the perfect Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so I’m just super stoked,” he continued. “And I get to just like, be a fan again, which is my preferred position — to be able to sit in the audience and kind of go, ‘Yeah, you screwed up mate, you didn’t do it as well as you could have done, eh?’ I get to be that guy that’s just like, ‘Yeah, I don’t really love the suit… I get to be that person which is so much fun’”.
