Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Betting Preview

We have the biggest fight in women’s boxing history on Saturday when Katie Taylor meets Amanda Serrano to crown the undisputed lightweight champion in Madison Square Garden. This is not hyperbole as both are widely regarded as the two greatest female boxers today.

If you have not heard of her yet, Kate Taylor is the most dominant boxer in her weight division. We can pull up all kinds of stats such as her 18 gold medals, unbeaten record, and wins over a field with a combined record of 269-23-8 in championship tilts. In short: Taylor (20-0-0, 6 KOs) is the one.

Hailing from a boxing family, Taylor is akin to the likes of Gennady Golovkin and Marvin Hagler in that she rules over one weight division with an iron fist. The Irishwoman made her pro debut in 2016 after having amassed gold medals at every level of amateur competition and then won her first belt, the WBA lightweight title, less than 12 months later.

Amanda Serrano may be two years younger than Katie Taylor, but she is much more experienced. The seven-division world champion is one of only two boxers to have titles in this many divisions. The other? Manny Pacquiao. While Taylor stands pat at lightweight and dominates, Serrano (42-1-1, 30 KOs) is more of a trailblazer.

The Puerto Rican is every bit the definition of “prolific” as she started her career in 2009 as a 21-year-old and won her first title, the IBF super featherweight belt, just over two years later. She would lose to the great Frida Wallberg, which would be the only blemish on her stacked record.
