The field is bursting with PGA Tour stars at the 2022 Players Championship, which tees off Thursday, March 10 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Justin Thomas, who won by one stroke over Lee Westwood last year at 14-under par, is a 14-1 co-favorite in the latest 2022 Players Championship odds from Caesars Sportsbook, along with Rahm and world No. 2 Collin Morikawa. McIlroy (18-1) and Scheffler (25-1) also are among the top contenders in the Players Championship field. Aside from the golf, Tuesday will feature a Military Appreciation Ceremony, followed by a concert by
country music star Kelsea Ballerini. On Wednesday, all eyes will be on the World Golf Hall of Fame Ceremony, highlighted by the induction of 82-time Tour winner Tiger Woods.

Top 2022 Players Championship expert picks
One shocking choice from Johnson: The golf expert is fading defending champion Justin Thomas, who has been wildly inconsistent at Sawgrass.
A sixth-place finish in 2016 is his only other top-10, and while he hasn’t missed a cut in his six appearances, he has finished well outside the top-25 twice. The 28-year-old has struggled mightily with his putter (126th in strokes gained) and his driving accuracy has been a big issue — he hitting less than 56 percent of his fairways. His torrid finish last year can’t be overlooked, but Johnson won’t back Thomas this week.
The expert also can’t wait to see if McIlroy’s rise continues after a dismal stretch of play. The Northern Irishman has struggled for well over a year to put four good rounds together. Now he comes off a T-13 last week at PGA National and hasn’t finished lower than 14th in his past nine worldwide events.
That includes a victory at the CJ Cup in October and top-five finishes at the BMW Championship in August and January’s Dubai Desert Classic. The 32-year-old is the world’s sixth-ranked player and has 32 professional wins, including four major championships.
