Who is behind The Batman?
The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves. The filmmaker made a name for himself in 2008 with the film Cloverfield, before confirming the quality of his gaze with the excellent Let me in in 2010.
Matt Reeves has already shown his talent has generated big-budget projects, as his latest films are the impressive Planet of the Apes: The Clash, and Planet of the Apes: Supremacy.

Who wrote The Batman?
Matt Reeves co-wrote The Batman with Peter Craig (Top Gun: Maverick and Bad Boys for Life). Affleck originally penned Warner Bros.’ impending solo Batman film, with a relatively low-key focus on re-establishing the Dark Knight as “the world’s greatest detective.”
Following the critical failure of both Batman v. Superman and Justice League, and the box-office disappointment of the latter, Warner sought to clean the slate within a DCEU that’s already wonky in terms of cohesiveness. Reeves re-wrote Affleck’s script. Affleck, originally slated to direct and star in the new Batman feature, doesn’t have a writing credit on the film.

Batman Pre-production
In May 2019, Robert Pattinson, Nicholas Hoult, Armie Hammer, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson were selected to replace Affleck as Batman, with Pattinson emerging as the favorite. Reeves considered Pattinson early in the production process but was unclear if he would want to play the role, so he did not approach him. Pattinson has avoided large franchise films since his work on the Twilight series, and then before meeting with both performers in April, Reeves spent hours researching Pattinson’s and Hoult’s past work.
On May 20, they were the sole candidates for the part, and both went to Burbank, California, for a screen test. Pattinson was chosen to play Batman by Reeves, who had exact criteria for the character. He was officially cast as Batman on May 31. And then Christian Bale, who played Batman in The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005–2012), encouraged Pattinson to take the character and dismiss detractors. Pattinson also sought guidance from Christopher Nolan, the director of The Dark Knight Trilogy, with whom he collaborated on Tenet (2020).
