This lavish fantasy series imagines a world in which fairytale creatures, Disney princesses, and evil witches & wizards alike all live and fight for power in the same fictional seaside town of Storybrooke – whose residents are actually fairytale characters disguising themselves from the outside world. The ABC show stars Jennifer Fox (How I Met Your Mother) as new character Emma Swan, loosely based on the Ugly Duckling fairytale. Emma befriends princesses, princes, and heroes such as Snow White, Cinderella, and Prince Charming. With the help of her son, Henry, she helps foil the evil schemes of Rumplestiltskin, played gruesomely by Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting), as well as Disney favorites like Mother Gothel & Doctor Facilier. The series came to an end in 2018, but you can always dip into the spinoff series, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, if seven seasons isn’t enough to satisfy your insatiable fantasy cravings.
