Starz: Emma and Lyn are two sisters who are practically polar opposites, but their lives are forced back together when tragedy hits their family. Melissa Barrera and Mishel Prada star as two Mexican-American siblings who have become completely isolated from each other over the years. When their mother’s sudden death brings them briefly back into each other’s lives, they discover that she had been married to another woman, forcing them to confront their own hypocrisies and shortcomings. Sounds like a gay panic story straight out of last century, but the two leads, punchy style and delicately handled writing make for surprisingly effective drama.
